Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a small, quiet town. The West Island, to those not familiar with it, is a vast part that stretches from Lachine until the west. The West Island is frequently referred to as being the place of birth for Amanda Brugel but while that may be true, her time there was not long. Brugel lived in Courtice close to Oshawa the city of Ontario. The first goal she had was to dance but an increase in her height meant that she literally outgrew the dancers she was with. A Toronto Star article revealed she's 6ft 1in tall in heels. When I grew out of male companions, that's when I gave up. A lot of former dancers go on to acting and in Brugel's case it was a suggestion from an instructor in drama at high school who pushed her in the right direction. It was her teacher who suggested she audition for the role of Anne in their annual school production. She tried out and was eventually cast as the role of the main character for the role in Anne of Green Gables. After receiving the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she enrolled in York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. For the last twenty years, Brugel's work been featured on both the large and small screen. Her work gained most recognition when she landed her character of Rita in the acclaimed television series The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel appeared only on rare instances in the initial season of the show The Handmaid's Tale. The only Canadian actor.
